    Sam Gilbert (SC)

At 386,700, does anyone think he is a viable option?

Since returning to the backs, his scores read 106, 90, 101.

Shares a bye with Montagna, Goddard, Riewoldt, but if you had a rookie like McKernan/Johnson in your team, I am thinking the forward/backward versatility could be quite appealing.

Over the last 2 years, their super coach averages have not been that different.

    Fisher/Gilbert

    2010 - 91.2/92.6
    2009 - 92.4/95.8

Thoughts? Could he be an alternative to Sam Fisher?

An alternative is WCE's Shannon Hurn. He is priced at 395k and has a breakeven this week of 35. Lovely long kick which SC obviously loves.

Looking at their averages for the past few years, Gilbert seems to have a slight edge on Hurn.

Obviously if you take him instead of Fisher you save about 100k which you could certainly put to good use elsewhere. I also imagine Gilbert is in less teams than Fisher.

The real question of course is, do you really want someone in your SC team who takes and then keeps photos of his teammates cock n balls?

    ^ Good question keffa

Gilbert is someone I am watching at the moment to see if he really is a viable option after his bye. His form lately is encouraging, no doubt he was affected by the off field issues to start the year.

Looked completely lost earlier in the season and there is no doubt those off field issues played a role here, he looked totally devoid of confidence which was not helped by Lyon trying him as a forward imo. He looks to have settled now and returned to his half back role that he has been so successful in the past and hence now he represents a great upgrade option. The worry for me is that he gets moved to the forward line again which would massively hurt his output. Can we trust that he remains in the half back role? Its a tough one to judge but I am seriously considering him. Sharing a bye with Goddard is the other concern so if you bring him in prior to the saints bye you will need double coverage.

I think that's a one-off. The ball went nowhere near him up forward at all. We should bring in a tall next week so Scarlett can't get off the hook, so that should see Gilbert return down back.

Scored 110 SC, playing mostly down back against NM. On the way back up, or too early?

Sam Gilbert is tempting me, another 100 against West Coast. If Gwilt's injury is a LTI, do you think this will mean Gilbert will be more settled down back now?

Need to cut costs, so I can upgrade Jack Riewoldt.

Gwilt was scoring pretty well before injury (even considered him as a replacement for Heather for a sec) so if Gilbert assumes his position no reason why he couldn't average 90.

I'm thinking perhaps with the addition of Kosi to the side Gilbert might not be required up forward and could be released down back?

Poor game from Gilbert last night, just didn't seem to get near the ball. Has been a huge let-down after being named as FWD/DEF I took a early punt on him but he has dissapointed heavily.
