Nice. Can even afford to wait a week in AF. Phillips scored 85 and is only went up from 170K to 203K so still cheap.
I'll look at Clarke next week if he goes 60+ there.

I was making that point on chat the other night, it's a bit of a myth in AF that you need to pick rookies 1st game, get them 2nd game unless you are positive they will perform and keep playing.
Since they go up after 1 game their starting avg is so low it has too much weighting on their first price rise.

On Dylan Clarke - from the AFL site

Clarke is leading the league for disposals so far this season (164 from five games at an average of 33).
Good signs if he can hold a spot in the seniors

Crows best and fairest Matt Crouch and defender Luke Brown are in doubt for tomorrow night’s clash with the Bulldogs. Pulled up sore after the Showdown @AFLcomau
They play Friday so we'll know before lockout.
Crouch in last week would have been popular.

Adelaide injuries are soooo bad. Knight and Tex ruled out for a few, hopefully Murphy comes in...

    Re: Round 9 Trades

Yeah you guys are having a horror year with injuries, hopefully it turns around! Given the spate of soft tissue injuries though, think I will be steering clear of upgrading to Crows players this year.

Interestingly only ~4000 people brought Crouch in last week, thought he would have been a more popular trade in than that. 20k started with him, dipped to 5k post hammy and now up to 9.3k.

Wood, Adams and Morris should all be back over the next few weeks for the Dogs, Wood might be this week. Might mean that Naughton has a tough time getting back in once he's fit again and might also mean Richards loses his place.

    Re: Round 9 Trades

Dale Thomas heat maps from the past two weeks are fairly interesting. Round 7 had 26 disposals and 10 marks (88% in the defensive half) and in Round 8 had 29 disposals and 14 marks (93% in the defensive half). I haven't seen either game but appears a clear role change in which he's gone 123 DT/105 SC and 128DT/116 SC. Coming off 4 SC tons in a row also.

Yes he's been sulking around the back line picking up plenty of cheapies.

    Re: Round 9 Trades

So Macrae.... Is he the real deal or just having a hot patch?

His last 3 scores in DT have been 145, 151 and 155 however it should be noted they come against Carlton, Gold Coast and Brisbane - it doesn't get much better than that.

During that time he's averaged 39.6 touches, 5.3 marks, 8.3 tackles and .6 goals a game. What can we realistically expect from him going forward? He's someone that's averaged 104 in 14/15/17 and 98.8 in 16.

2014 - Never had more than 3 100+ scores in a row, rather patchy scorer with a standout 168 DT
2015 - Didn't start the season on fire but had a really strong match in the middle. From rounds 10-18 (8 game period) he averaged 116 DT. During that time his stat averages were 30.1 disposals, 6 marks and 5.7 tackles. His 6 games afterwards he only managed to score over 100 once, averaging 95.
2016 - Only had back to back 100 scores twice for the season, rounds 10/11 and the SF/GF.
    2017 - No 3+ 100 scores in a row. Had 3 100+ back to back scores.

To me he's always been a super streaky scorer outside of that patch in 2015 where he looked like a proper premium. I suppose my concern with him is he's going at a 130 avg, only one sub 100 score of a 99 vs Freo where he was apparently tagged by Banfield. Is he due for a shit patch? Is he worth his 839k price tag? Am I better going 50-100k cheaper and getting someone that averages a similar amount from here (that's not easy done)? For mine, it's doing my best to ignore his current average as I'm not getting any of his past scores, he's starting at a 0 average for me if I grab him this week and a high price tag so I need him to be a 115+ avg midfielder from this point to justify his cost.

    Bye is good...

    Re: Round 9 Trades

If fantasy sports has taught me anything... never buy at the highest price.

I'd be more willing to risk someone who has dropped and ready to turn it around. Use the coin to upgrade again next week. I'd even prefer Hunter thanks McRae at his price.

Yeah players very rarely maintain a hot form patch for the year. As good as he looks right now, he will come back to earth at some point.

    Re: Round 9 Trades

Sounds like the approach I took with Docherty and Titch last year.

It's almost safer to bring him in if you have the cash to save your season from being over if he does happen to continue scoring like this. The downside to grabbing him is little, the downside to not grabbing him is potentially huge.

He does face Jacobs from North twice before the season is over, something worth considering.

I've picked him up in RDT, will probably leave in SC due to 99 other more pressing issues.
