Yeah was impressive viewing, very strong through the hips. Looking at his draft profile, looks like one of those "great footballer, but short" types. The fact that he has DPP and Ross love-child status is a big tick in his favour though.

He's pretty much your Luke Parker, Lachie Neale or Sam Mitchell type pick... teams ignore all the evidence that a kid can flat out play because of one negative trait.

    Re: Round 4 Trades

Question for the veteran SC guys on here. Anyone think Gibbs can continue the way he has started this year and take the step up to a top end premium in SC as well as DT.

139/116, 113/127 and 129/120 in his first three games. Having a look at his stats more closely in comparison to 2017 his CP's are up, clearances are up, centre clearances are up, DE % is up, everything else looks relatively the same. Being at a better team in a better system might just have been the perfect change he needed, helps that Sloane is the first to be tagged in a season where tagging seems to be back in a big way also.

Downside is he's had two games with negative ratios, can turn the ball over and produce clangers but so far the sheer accumulation is outweighing that. Interesting to note also that Adelaide only travel once in the next 6 weeks. So you'd think they would be fairly dominant in that period.

    Re: Round 4 Trades

The ratio always worries me with Gibbs and the fact that all those other indicators are up and yet he's still had a negative ratio suggests he might not have the love of the CD callers. Also, I wonder whether he will be impacted by the return of the Crouches. I do like Adelaide's upcoming draw. As you say, lots of home games but also some juicy opponents. It was one of the reasons I was warming to the Seedsman trade.

Gibbs is in 6% of teams so not a bad POD but that's actually a lot higher than I was expecting. I guess a few people took a punt on the "change of club" kicker in their initial selection.

In the end, given how some of the other premiums have performed so far, you'd probably take a 115 avg (solid pick) and it's a win if he maintains 120.

Durability has certainly been good. Bye is not great.

A different and maybe easier way to look at it is, do you think Gibbs can avg 115+ in DT for the year?
If so then he'll be in the top SC mids, if not he'll be borderline or not at the top.

I see him falling in that 110-120 DT range for sure (112ppg in 2017). Which end of that spectrum is the hard part to know, purely speculation. The big question is how will he be affected with both Crouches in the team, so we may see a 2nd half of the season fade.

    Re: Round 4 Trades

The thing with Gibbs is that he finally has a team that can reward his play. For as great as he was at Carlton it was basically him and a few other blokes fighting a losing battle 80% of the time.

Watching him have a forward line that he can hit up multiple viable options on a lead helps him a lot. Also due to injury he's currently our #1 midfielder with Matt Crouch out injured, Sloane carrying an ankle leaves him as the guy.

Us winning most of our games should help protect his SC scores a bit, so I think he finishes the year in the top 7-10 SC mids in all likelihood. Given his durability over a lot of other contenders for those slots.

Also worth noting that last year he started very hot and had a pretty rough spot late in the season, I remember picking him up for about 400K as my last hail mary trade to keep my SC functional in the last few rounds.

For the many of us with Liam Ryan, who are you trading him to?

    Re: Round 4 Trades

I looked into Gibbs for my Crouch trade but the ratio just scared me away. He could keeps this up and being in a much better team looks to have boosted his scoring, but there's still a lot of question marks for mine. He could also just be in form to start the year and will regress back to his normal output soon. He is someone I would wait until the normal upgrade season to trade in, would want to see 8-10 weeks of this and make him that final mid upgrade.

On a different note, does anyone know where you can view centre bounce attendance stats?

I really like Ratagoluea, think he has good scoring potential in the short term sharing the ruck, against some average ruck set ups too.

I started with Gibbs in AF - he's been great - but I did notice his two better games were at Etihad which makes sense to me. Be interesting how he goes at Adelaide Oval, he was good in Round 2 but not as good as Rounds 1/3.

Would be great to know... I just see Freako's tweets haha. Have a feeling the AFL app doesn't have them.

    Re: Round 4 Trades

wondering if I should just trade Zorko to Coniglio/Oliver.
Zorko had 3 games of 20 or less disposals last year, he has already matched that this year, combined with terrible use of the ball so far and he is bleeding points compared to other teams players in this spot.

I should have considered his fixture, it gets a lot better from mid year, plenty of home games, been a fairly tough start to the year and continues this week.

Gibbs/Sloane combo is working like a dream at the moment. Jacobs' gives Sloane the dummy nod, then puts it down Gibbs' throat, who lays off the ball to Sloane cruising past on the outside-much harder for a tagger to prevent someone getting the ball when they're on the move. Guess it wont be long before teams lock onto Gibbs instead of Sloane.

Yeah surprised he hasn't gotten attention yet.

Hopefully we'll get the Crouch boys with them, that will be an exciting midfield to see.

    Re: Round 4 Trades

Ben Jacobs would have been a nice buy, started at 230k, had a 68k rise with an expected rise of 77k if he scores his projected 84. Gone 37, 107 and 86 so far this season - probably having a nice patch based off his career to date but would have been a handy cash cow, certainly beats the likes of Brayshaw.
