ANB on ball, I picked him in RDT as a POD this season, hope the move pulls off.

He certainly could be an early beneficiary of Viney missing the first part of the season.

Possible break out season. He's had a really good pre season, and a very good JLT game. He's a better pick than MacPherson anyway.

With Danger missing I'm tempted to grab someone else in his replacement in RDT, SC I might hold.

Would want a pretty decent rookie score covering him to justify holding him.

He needs to average 140+ over the first 6 weeks to hold his price, he'll be cheaper almost certainly than he is now and you're going to reduce his effective average by a solid 50 points most likely by fielding a rookie for one of his 22 games.

I was all for it if Garlett had given me 110 like he was on pace for at half time but I'd much rather back a Mitchell or even Selwood to start gluttonously and back a couple of rookies to fund the upgrade.

The other risk is that while the club is saying it's a sure thing, hamstrings are anything but and a guy who has never had one and is prone for pushing things to the limit who has had back issues in the offseason seems like a prime candidate for it possibly taking longer than expected. Throw in that Geelong might be the only side that is shadier than Adelaide and West Coast on injury reporting and it's not the kind of storm I want to be flying into.

Especially after Martin showed great things as an alternative captaincy option for the first month at least.

RDT he has to go, he's not in his own tier there where you can afford 2-3 points off his average before he's even played for you!

Yeah, keep in SC, going to be a handy (c) loophole. Geelong don't see a saturday til rnd 4, surely he's back by then.

    Re: Round 1

Started Garlett on the FWD bench. His 61 is right on the borderline.

Now have to decide whether to run with Keeffe (assuming he doesn't play) or another floater so that I can get a look at Doedee's score as well.

On Garlett - I thought his game was pretty good and can't see him losing his spot. Did some nice things and moved really well / found space.

    Re: Round 1

Yeah Garlett isn't going anywhere while Pickett is out. If Pickett was in, Garlett would still be in too unless Cunningham was really pushing the door down.

Be interesting what changes we do next week with Kennedy out, possibly Kreuzer out. I'd omit Byrne too but might get another week.

Lang/Williamson are both apparently ready for Round 2. I have a feeling they could go Levi to ruck, Mackay in, if Kreuzer was to miss. They won't play Phillips. Not sure why Lobbe didn't play VFL as someone mentioned.

    Re: Round 1

I had a dream last night that Heeney copped a concussion on Sunday, only scored 33 and missed a couple of weeks. I don't believe in coincidence Franklin it is.

So, do we run English over Cameron if we have the $$$ ?

SC wise, plays Sunday first 3 rounds anyway for VC loop.

Sorry if I missed this already being discussed!

Garlett looked really good to me. Have him in the mids for the flexibility. Played a HF role and was doing a great job pushing higher up the field. Like most of the Blues he ran out of puff in the 2nd half (down a rotation basically the whole game and then lost Kreuzer for the 3rd and they just fell apart from there). He looks a very decent forward option, no reason he can't score similar to that most weeks and be startable on good matchups.

I expect he's just an emergency so I wouldn't pay extra. Reality is that he's more expensive and at a team with probably 3 other guys that they can also turn to as the backup ruckman if Roughy goes down. (Campbell, Boyd and Trengove all very realistic options).

Cameron is the only backup to Sinclair and Sinclair has been very injury prone in his career.

Throw in that the loophole probably has more value than English as a backup ruck from a cash generation perspective if he does even play.

Scott: Esava is going to play along with Lachie Fogarty and Tim Kelly.
Few debutants for the Cats.... Would think Fogarty in particular has very bad job security with Danger next week, Scott Selwood at some point.

I'm guessing Murdoch would be the other ext bench to make the cut meaning ZGuthrie and O'Connor miss out.

So is Esava anyone to consider from a fantasy POV or is he just holding a spot this week for Danger/Stanley/?
