JoM building up nicely for round 1, also Miles is the most likely rookie for the Hawks to play r1 so good to keep an eye on him too.

Jack Steven only played the first half last night for 80 dt. Nothing unusual about that for him but given the game was close at the end I imagine his SC wasn't great.

Yep, still comfortably one of the top end premium DT midfielders without a tag.

From what I saw Ryder played little to no minutes in the second half as well.

    Also of note

    - nRoo's role looks to continue of the wing, with Bruce, McCartin and Membrey playing a lot deeper. Is locked in for me barring any hiccups before round 1.
    - Brett Eddy and Powell-Pepper both showed a bit, big bodies and will be strong rookie candidiates if picked round 1.
    - Ryder looked in great shape, moved very well. Still a little worried about his scoring ceiling with so many other talls there and about - Lobbe, Dixon, Westhoff, Trengrove. But certainly on the radar.

Re: JLT Community Series Week 1

Kind of peed watching Jack Steven do what he did last night. Was going to be a POD for me, I don't think he'll be the POD anymore.

Eddy is a massive chance of playing Round 1 now. When he came on he actually gave the forward line some kind of structure (something we've lacked big time the last 2 seasons). Lead to ball and presented well and has a very clean pair hands
Sam Powell Pepper, you might as well lock him for a bench spot. Looked like he played like a HF in the 1st 3 quarters did a few good things, but when got moved to the guts in the last qtr, wow. He's another O Wines in the making. It also suggests he has a reasonable tank for AFL.

Couple of other smoky's who could get early games are D Houston and J Atley (but not necessarily round 1). both did well when and made good decisions when they had the ball in hands.

I wouldn't be concerned with Ryder.. Was always going to be plan with him this week playing the 1st half. But what he did was good.

Re: JLT Community Series Week 1

Just on some of the Adelaide players:

Hampton - Was really impressed with him when he had the ball in hand, has the ability to hold onto it for a bit to take on the opposition. Seemed to be spending more time towards the forward half of the ground, not exactly sure what position he was playing. Didn't get a great deal of it in the first half but even those touches were great. I get a feeling he won't be a high scorer but he should be in the side if he plays like that.

Wigg - Outside of a terrible kick into the forward 50, I didn't notice him.

Milera - Really like the look of Milera, always impressive that someone of his size can lay a really good tackle as well.

Otten - Was really impressed with Otten's work, was able to read the play well and spoil it away or take the mark. Very much in the Lever/Cheney role so if neither can get up I'd like to see him in the side after that game. If they're both good to go he might struggle to get in given the height of our backline but he was a nice surprise.

Menzel - Was around the play a bit and looked to try but struggled to get involved in the game. Missed a couple of kickable goals.

O'Brien - My god is he a bad kick of the ball from the little I've seen of him.

CEY - Unable to make any impact at all which was really disappointing. Did pick up some kind of injury early which saw him limping and came back out with his knee bandaged but he has to do so much better then that if he's any chance to get a game, failed to make any impact.

Beech - Kicked a goal before seeing him on the bench with ice around his ankle or behind so ankle/calf/achilies injury I'm guessing.

Re: JLT Community Series Week 1

I watched last nights game as well/

Wigg is going to play games for Adelaide at some point this year. I'll mention it below, but he's going to put pressure on Brown to have a better season than his awful 2016 or he's going to cover Laird a bit. But he'll fill a role in our side when it occurs.

Laird is still an absolute star, it is worth noting he attended 8 centre bounces which points to him being part of our midfield solution which I'm completely okay with. If the idea is to use Wigg/Hampton down back more and Laird as the guy who rotates between HBF and RR then both of those ideas appeal greatly to me.

Hampton looks firmly in our best 22, he showcased an adaptability across a few roles and hit the scoreboard.

Menzel had one great play in the second half where he turn and burns his opponent and hits a dashing player on the run so they can set up a goal. Outside of that he was pretty mediocre. He'll play SANFL come round 1.

Didn't really notice Poholke so I'm guessing he was just finding his feet.

Given Richmond named their entire midfield I'm fine with the overall result. Our forwards still all looked dangerous when hit them up. I just hope the few niggles picked up don't become serious issues.

Also CEY got injured early, but I'm hoping that someone better can take his spot in our best 22. What he was doing pre injury wasn't particularly impressive and I think he has an incredibly limited ceiling.

The AFL has invoked its extreme heat policy for Saturday’s match between Fremantle and West Coast at Wonthella Oval in Geraldton.

The temperature is forecast to reach 41C during the day, with the game starting at 3:40pm.

The quarters will be reduced to 22 minutes, with extended breaks of eight minutes at quarter time and three quarter time, and 22 minutes at half time.
