Sam Day went off early with a dislocated hip. Could be a very serious injury and potentially long term but won't know for sure until after getting it looked at by a specialist.

Aaron Hall putting up a little reminder he should still be considered this year. 127/147. 13 contested, 11 inside 50's, 9 clearances and 9 tackles. Some game. Amazingly put up those numbers from only 1 mark.

Re: JLT Community Series Week 1

So Adelaide's squad is missing Sloane, Brad Crouch, Thommo & Lever all through injury. So they're the notable absentees.

Riley Knight, Gallucci (2017 1st round pick) and Tom Doedee are all being managed through this week as well. Doedee sounds like he has a knee issue, but Knight and Gallucci should be back next week apparently. Which is important for him as he is one of the guys expected to slot into our midfield.

From a team perspective our forward line is stacked. We named our starting 6 from last year in Tex, Betts, JJ, Lynch, Shooter (Gov) & Cameron along with guys like Milera, Dear and Menzel. So chances are some of these 9 players get trimmed or have limited game time. Lynch & Jenkins have had managed preseason time due to injuries and surgery so they might only play a half.

Our midfield is pretty weak, Crouch aside in this game so I expect them to lose around the ball given that Richmond named Cotchin, Martin, Prestia, Caddy & Ellis. But it might be worth watching the midfield minutes of guys like Cameron, CEY and if a guy like Poholke can impress early in a game like this. Because these guys might not be fantasy relevant, but they can steal the role from guys who might be.

Curtly Hampton is also playing his first game for the club, he might be a guy trapped in that midpricer bracket. I'm still pretty doubtful over how fantasy relevant Adelaide will be in 2017 outside of Sloane & Laird. A lot of other guys fall just below the standards of keeper levels (Matt Crouch, Smith, Lynch types) and I'm not sure how many rookies will be regular starters either.

Re: JLT Community Series Week 1

Apparently Adelaide currently have 11 players unavailable due to being managed/injured. This probably explains why we named both of Jenkins & Lynch for game 1.

We have had a good 18 months health wise so this is probably the regression to the mean. But it means that there might be early spots for rookies.

So who do you think is ahead between Poholke and Gallucci at this point given Gallucci will be back next week? @Big Sledge #32

atm I have Gallucci in my squads.

Good to see Hampton is injury free as well. Could be one of the better rookie priced defenders this season.

I'm not sure who I have ahead, Poholke looks like he has an AFL ready frame. But Gallucci was the higher pick and at this stage the assumed greater talent. They're two of the players I want to see in action come this JLT series as they are incredibly important to our long-term future. The issue is that Adelaide is a pretty tight ship in the post-Sando era and we have become even more insular in the Pyke era. We don't typically leak information unless it is planned so we catch teams and news sites off guard with things like the Gibbs fiasco. But this also has the effect that it is hard to get a read on our best 22 until the JLT games. Last year I suspected that Milera would play round 1 and Menzel wouldn't play much if at all. But it took until the NAB games for those suspicions to get confirmed when we got a look at the exposed form. Hopefully Poholke gets some midfield minutes tomorrow given how weak our midfield is tomorrow night.

Pyke has said that all 3 of Brad Crouch, Sloane & Thommo will be thereabouts for round 1. So there looks like there might be a spot or two available for rounds 1 or 2 so the likes of Poholke and Gallucci could be FF bait picks that get a game or two but are dropped by round 3-4 which cause cash generation issues going forward. But we need a bit more time to see it all play out.

Re: JLT Community Series Week 1

TOP Crows draft picks Jordan Gallucci and Myles Poholke are near the top of the list of those who will be showcased and analysed during Adelaide’s three practice matches as the club prepares for its first JLT Series match against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium on Friday night.

Coach Don Pyke has been impressed by the pair — taken at No. 15 and No. 44 respectively at last year’s national draft — and has bunched them up with emerging players Harrison Wigg, Curtley Hampton and Cam Ellis-Yolmen as compulsive viewing during the club’s final phase of the pre-season.

Of the draft picks, they are the most likely to have an impact during the home-and-away season.

“Out of the six draftees we brought in, some of those are starting to show some good sign,” Pyke said.

“Jordan Gallucci and Myles Poholke are our highest draft picks and we’ll be keen to have a look at them at some stage through the JLT.

“The other guys are a little bit more developmental and they’ll take a little bit more time to come on.

“And there’s a number of guys who are second or third-year who haven’t had opportunities: Harrison Wigg, Curtley Hampton, Cam Ellis-Yolmen didn’t play a lot last year.

“Dean Gore and all of these guys can come in and play through the midfield and through half-forward and half-back. Most of those guys we’d like to have a look at, at some point.”
    From the Advertiser today.

Looks like Gallucci and Poholke have pushed into that tier of guys around the fringes of the 22 with guys like CEY, Wigg, etc. Given time they should work their way past a lot of those guys, but whether they do it this year is the question.
