Ruckman Shaun Hampson has been placed on the Long Term Injury List due to an ongoing back injury.
Hampson has been managing the injury during the pre-season, and will not be available to play in the early rounds of the season.
The injury does not require surgery, and no rookie elevation has been made at this stage.
The Club has two senior list positions available, and Richmond’s rookie listed players are Jason Castagna, Mabior Chol, Callum Moore, Ivan Soldo and Tyson Stengle.
Pretty much locks in Nankervis for #1 ruckman imo as I think he's ahead of Maric.

    Hard to look past now!

    Nankervis/Sandi very tempting.

I''ll probable go Sandi R2, Nankervis in the forwards since I would rather play a ruck premium over a forward premium given the lack of options and uncertainty around the forward premiums.

Would really like a ruck/fwd R3 but I think Preuss might be hard to overlook if he plays alright tomorrow.

Of course, certainly the safer play.

Im toying with starting with all of Ryder, Roughy and Nankervis so hard to have them all forward. Current structure lets me start 7 midfield premiums.

    Re: Rucks

Was having a read over at the NM bigfooty board - Ben Brown apparently every chance to play round 1 now. Meaning it's probably worth picking the cheapest R/F rookie rather than Preuss as a potential cow now. Preuss has had an impressive JLT but the general consensus is that he will make way for Brown which makes sense.

    Re: Rucks

Yep, I think Witts in SC still looking a goer assuming none of Cameron, English or Preuss are named rd 1.

DT, Cameron probably the most worthwhile with the F/R eligibility.

Also somewhat interesting that two of the premiums are in all likelihood going to have a monster game in the first two rounds. Goldy rd 1 v Vardy/Petrie (unless Giles plays) and Stef rd 2 v McKernan or an underdone Bellchambers.

    Re: Rucks

Witts as a benchy is a tough call in SC, that loophole vs the cash generation is a massive coin flip. On field he makes sense though and keep the loophole.

DT is harder because the ruck forwards aren't nearly as viable and lack of rolling lockout makes the coverage they provide minimal anyway so might be best going anyone who's a chance to play.

Given the apparent lack of depth in the midfield rookies, it might be worth using M11 as the loophole slot rather than the traditional R3

Yep mentioned this in the back rookie thread.

Looking at Hibberd for m11 if not named round 1, but could easily do the same thing with Miles.

    Re: Rucks

Certainly a strong option to consider. Probably only a point going a D/M if you're picking Taylor Adams though, imo, as otherwise it's probably a dead DPP as Vince is the only other top DEF who has the MID flag.

Works with Andy McGrath if he's named.

Think it's better with two rookies anyway to start the year as it gives the option to emg loophole across two lines.

    Re: Rucks

Jack Viney on radio today said that he expects both Gawn and Spencer to play Rd 1. Does that make Gawn too big a risk to start at his price?

    Re: Rucks

For mine it's enough doubt yes, Gawn actually looks pretty impressive when he goes forward but historically shared ruck minutes is never good news.
