    Re: Back Midpricers

Not a lot of talk here but mentioned it in the Heeney thread that his injury makes Mills a very worthy consideration here. Awkward price that has to become a premium but the kid is a gun and there is a clear path to the midfield with McVeigh and Heeney both injured and Titchell departing. He'd be by far our best kick in the midfield group if he joined it.

Wouldn't bet the house on it or anything but can see him pushing 95+ given his contested and disposal skills. Would say he's similar to where David Swallow was when he made the midfield move from a HBF (79 to 103) and his game is a natural fit that Bonts is another I'd draw a comparison on for a 2nd year guy who has scored like that with a good midfield move. Similar player as well with the smooth moving and excellent skills.

Hard to take a midpricer though with so many seemingly safe premium options and several rookie names having popped up. He's also not that much cheaper than proven guys like Hodge.

When the level of talent is super high you can see rapid improvement in scoring.

I remember seeing it in Fyfe, Pendles and Bont. I wouldn't be shocked to see it in Mills.

He's definitely on my radar atm.

Z Jones worth thought as well considering he's only 300k (SC) and more than likely will have a good role while Heeney is out. Scored 100+ in 1st Pre season game.
    also Touhy at 440 (SC).

Personally I'm not touching either in my sc as they don't fit my structure down back, but I can see why I'm seeing Touhy in quite a few teams.

Watched the first 10 minutes of the Swans and GWS game and Z Jones was in the starting midfield group which was interesting to see. He can play and has a ton of moungrel in him but his disposal leaves a bit to be desired at times.Think his biggest problem is he probably still needs to get to the 95-100+ range to be a premium which makes it hard. Personally think he is a better DT play, I'd expect plenty of tackles from him but think his DE will hold him back even if he is very contested in SC.

Am all over Lloyd, his run of form from late last year and now this PS has been very consistent.

    Re: Back Midpricers

Lloyd did seem to find a home across half back last year towards the end, it surprisingly allowed him to hide his immense softness and flakiness whilst highlighting his running capacity which the wing had almost done the reverse to him. He also was much, much better using the ball with the little extra time.

Still, I personally can't pick him because he's just been so rubbish for so long that it feels wrong. He's that guy I'm perfectly happy to be wrong about and just jump on halfway through!

Has been a sub vest victim before getting stuck in a lockdown back pocket role. When runs free he can find the pill. Haven't watched the games to get an idea of his role but it's very possible he takes the Titchell hard as a bull butcher role in the guts and he should score somewhat similarly, not as natural at finding the ball as Titch but a better tackler and harder in general.

My biggest worry on him is that I think going beyond 95 is going to be very hard and I think the premium level is roughly 100 this year (SC post). He's probably cheap enough that would work anyway but that's more my best case scoring than a likely outcome. Think realistically he's going to fall in no mans land between cash generation and scoring and not be worth it.

Will refresh this after watching though as his scoring has been outside of where I thought he was at.

    Re: Back Midpricers

I'm personally a bit wary of these midpriced Sydney guys popping up like Lloyd and Jones. From what I've seen this JLT series from the Swans guys like Kennedy, Parker and Hanners have not been going all out.

    Re: Back Midpricers

Is Wellingham worth looking at? Priced at 61/63, career peak average of 82/81.5 (so not great). Preseason games of 99/89, 86/104 and 114/110 for an average of 99/101.
Doesn't have a great history, but that's 3 good games out of 3. Does he have a new role? Or is he just scoring more?
Isn't much more expensive than Jones and has had the 3 big games, instead of 2 for Jones.
This post was more than likely SC based.
If in doubt, assume it was.

    Re: Back Midpricers

I would be wary of Wellers Hendo - he played more midfield time in JLT but suspect he will revert back to playing in the backline mainly when we are at full strength.
