Wouldn't be Hurley forward it would be Hooker.

Hurley is twice the defender than he is a forward. He looks much more comfortable reading the play from the opposition than when he was responsible for leading to the right spot.

I think Essendon are locking in Hurley down back and JD up forward and are looking to add pieces at either end and will move the likes of Hooker FWD/DEF accordingly

    Ben is taking the piss.

I think if we could get a second KPF in the trade period we would. If we don't then one of Hooker, Brown become the second tall forward. Honestly I would be happy to see Brown outside our best 22.

I'm thinking something like Hurley, Hartley and Ambrose as the key defenders and Hooker, Daniher and Luey/Tbell in attack.

I currently have us lining up with Hurley/Ambrose/Hartley back and Hooker/Daniher/Bellchambers forward, leaving Brown, Langford, Laverde and Francis in the 2s.

Marchbank seems like he'll develop into an upgrade on Ambrose, but I'm not sure it's a priority at this point. I'd rather focus our resources on Hartlett/Riewoldt/O'Meara etc who will make us a much better team in 2017.

Our thinking regarding key position players is the same however I still think Laverde and Langford will be in our best 22. Not as Key position players but as medium size forwards / mids. Maybe only room for one as they are similar types. We don't need to upgrade Ambrose imo, he will be a fantastic third tall and will start getting noticed more next year, I rate him highly and am going early on him. That said I agree Ben, we should be chasing mids or KPF's to make our 22 better.

Anyway, I don't want to make this an Essendon thread.

Latest rumour that has me curious is Daniel Wells to Geelong... Is there anything in that?

Langford and Laverde are behind all the returning players, Bird, Kelly etc for me.

2016 Trade + Free Agency Period

A couple of bits of news today: Marchbank has nominated Carlton and Laverde's management has reportedly informed other clubs he will sign with ESS for another two years.
Wells reportedly also offered 1.5m over 3 years to join Pies. Would be crazy not to take a 3 year deal imo.

I know I'd be targeting the senior Kangaroos that they seem hell bent on culling if I was other clubs. They've shown that they've given up trying to win a flag over the next couple of seasons and are rebuilding now so I'd be right in the ear of Wells, Hansen, Thompson, Tarrant, Goldstein and Higgins trying to get them free. Very similar to how clubs went hard at the Saints guys when they announced the rebuild.

Told Olly last night that if we actually did sign off on that deal or even anything remotely close, I'd honestly be on the market for a new team to support (Dogs frontrunners after last night yewwww). That is just beyond stupidity for a dude who will be 32 by the time the season starts & has barely managed a season over his last 3.

I thought Crows would be the leaders Bert? I'm sure you'd go straight down to Rebel and get a big #13 on the back of your new Crows jersey?

Know it's already been mentioned that he may be looking for a trade from the Eagles, but Mitch Brown's wife has signed with the new Collingwood netball side, so would have to imagine he's a good chance to join a Melbourne based AFL side.
