    Re: Round 9 - The Carnage Continues

    Bit of chat around about the Freo v Richmond game with it more than likely going to be wet game.

    Richmond have confirmed that they are taking all 3 emergencies and will decide on game day due to weather.

    Freo have added two talls to their side with Barlow and De Boer emg.
    Might be a chance for one of these guys to be a late in. #clutchingatstraws

    Yeah, if you aren't trading Barlow this week, make sure you put him on the field and name an emergency (if you have one after the carnage).

    Re: Round 9 - The Carnage Continues

    The forecast is for rain all day on Saturday here in Perth. Thunderstorms, risk of hail etc. Bringing Barlow or de Boer into the side in those conditions makes a lot of sense.

    He should be suspended by the AFL if he's committing to a full tank by round 8.

    Not sure how you could possibly prove that though? We were up at half time so it's not like the squad he selected wasn't competitive. We should've been up at half time against Adelaide save for atrocious goal-kicking, we ran GWS to within a couple of goals and they're supposedly the form team of the comp. You can't say he's tanking via match-day tactics considering the issues with our side are evident to anyone who's watching. Barlow is the only guy playing in the WAFL who you could say is stiff not to be playing, and even still his replacement in Blakely has legitimate reason to be in the team. Hughes over Dawson maybe questionable as well but certainly not indefensible.. Resting Pav was fine, it's part of the reason he's still on our list.

    Agree with your call that he's been caught out by the shift in the game, and agree that we didn't anticipate such a rapid demise (see our final trade with GC last year if you need evidence of that). Without getting caught up in the semantics of what actually constitutes tanking, I don't think Ross is compromising the integrity of the game (which the prime bugbear of tanking) right now. Considering we've heard for 4 years how he can't play and develop youth, how his game plan is boring, how he over utilises role players, and the fact that pretty much all our A-graders are injured; other than dropping a fan favourite in Barlow, I don't see what else he could be doing right now that wouldn't attract even more criticism?

    It was more of a reaction to N29's suggestion that the fix is in. I don't care how bad of a run you've had I don't want to watch a side attempt to throw their next 14 games. It gets tiresome when teams do it for the final 5 rounds. To commit fully this early would be a complete farce.

    Agree with your call that he's been caught out by the shift in the game, and agree that we didn't anticipate such a rapid demise (see our final trade with GC last year if you need evidence of that). Again as I said it was a reaction to N29's comment rather than a full scale criticism. Although when you're 0-7 resting 3 of your most senior players from an away trip is a lot different when you're doing it to prepare for an assault on the Premiership in coming weeks like you've done in the past. So Lyon needs to be aware that his tactics will be judged under a different light when they're on the bottom rather than the top.

    Re: Round 9 - The Carnage Continues

    Ok I'm now leaning toward:
    Laird->Trengove
    & Wells->Hannebery

    Have changed my mind a few times, but thinking I may trade Laird. Despite telling @dylan123 I would not do this
    Am trying to justify it to myself on the basis that Laird also has the R13 bye, which means Trengove is quite possibly covering for not 1 but 2 donuts, which I think is somewhat reasonable. Really can't get into the mindset of willingly taking a donut, despite the fact that Ryan Davis is probably going to put up a 30 anyway.

    /
    So here's the deal Jackson Trengove. This week against Naita is your biggest test. Pull an 80+ and you have my avatar until the byes. Somehow manage a miracle and pull a 100 and you will adorn every post of mine until the end of the season.
