Might potentially help Hewett push further up the ground?

Would think with Robinson out and Towers/Richards in to replace him that Hewett pushes up more on that.

Hiscox is pretty much a tagger profile at this point in time (elite endurance guy with rubbish skills and not a really natural footballer is the NEAFL reviews at least). Hewett is a big strong inside mid type so it could be a really good chance for him to punch out a cash maker.

Hinkley: Jimmy Toumpas will go out of the side and Karl Amon will come in #pafclive
Not great news for those hoping SGray to come back in.

I was also surprised by the changes but this hardly suggests that he's lost it.

I'm a fan of both Barlow and Dawson, but they would be the two slowest, least skillful and least penetrating players in our 22 - not that their roles prior to this season required them to possess those attributes. Clearly our game plan is in transition away from Ross's classical style towards the fast ball movement, skillful etc. modern game plan, and the changes to our side for this week reflect that. We weren't going to beat the Hawks anyway, and the game plan isn't exactly working at the moment so I don't see enormous issue in leaving those guys out for a few weeks to see how it works without them. Hawthorn isn't a bad team to try it out against; Pearce has blanketed Gunston well in the past, Hughes is decent 1-on-1 so should go okay against Sicily and Ibbotson is experienced enough to at least force a contest against the resting ruck. We'll get pumped of course but I don't think Dawson and Barlow change the scoreline all that much. Whether the lack of on-field leadership causes heads to drop as the day rolls on is a legitimate query, but I'm sure that's been thought of and some of the guys have been challenged to stand up. I guess we'll see with next weeks changes whether or not these guys come back as insight into the thought process.

Re: Round 8 - Carnage time

I understand the intentions I just feel like the timing is questionable. We're 0 and 7 but I've felt like we've really shown good signs over the past few weeks. I'm worried that any player development and confidence that has been made in recent weeks will be shot to peices. I mean a 100 point loss isn't doing anyone favours, I just think its far too early in the season not to be naming the best 22. I fully understand giving Pav a rest but to drop the other two seems like really bad timing this week.

Pavlich and Barlow are on field leaders as is Dawson down back. Mundy hasn't exactly shown a leaders flair at all and how much do we want to anchor on Lachie Neales shoulders.
