    Re: Forward Rookies

I'm beginning to think Milera is going to be a pretty decent chance of playing come round 1 depending on how he goes in the pre season games.

Seems to be getting talked up a bit from the players, has impressed in the public training sessions - basically done everything one could ask (at least that's public knowledge).

Has been training as a mid/winger so if he does play, then I get a chance that's where we'll see him play (our forward line is pretty stacked).

Not sure what his scoring was like in the juniors as to whether he's worth paying a premium for. Also think we'll have a lot of competition for those final few spots so there could be a bit of rotations to be had - so poor performances could see him dropped fairly quickly.

    Re: Forward Rookies

Yeah not to sure on Milera at this stage though he's a pretty talented player from what I've seen. Is Beech a chance at all at the Crows? is a mid/fwd - though as you said forwardline is stacked with Betts/Cameron/Menzel etc

I had my eyes on Paul Ahern (GWS) as a forward option but now he is out for the year with injury which makes it harder to select to many forward rookies.
Matt Crouch is my boy for 2016 season, can he dominate 2016? time will tell....................

    Re: Forward Rookies

I'd say 50% Milera gets early games. 0-10% Beech does.
This post was more than likely SC based.
If in doubt, assume it was.

    Re: Forward Rookies

    Main guys I'm looking at:

SC Kerridge close to lock at 137k, less so in RDT at 177k.
Looks like Petracca may not play rd 1. May still be worth picking anyway.

Shane Yarran looking unlikely given Freo is a hard team to crack at the best of times and is recovering from a knee issue for the majority of the PS.

Tom Keough from the Suns is looking pretty good. Is a mature age KPD from West Adelaide, who has been bizarrely classed as a FWD/MID. Have read promising things on him. Sam Day has returned to training as a forward, so KPDs likely to be Thompson, May and either Schade or Keough. Won't be an amazing scorer in DT, but potentially solid enough. Went at 59 DT/85 SC in the SANFL last season.

Have read pretty promising things on Oleg Markov at Richmond too. One to watch in the NAB. Is a year older than most draftees and a good runner, so could be ready to go.

Eades and/or Hams potentially at Essendon. Both have looked good in pre-season. Eades a small forward, Hams a mid.

Lincoln McCarthy at Geelong (again). Danger was talking him up which is a good sign, although has spent a fair whack of pre-season in the rehab group (again).

Milera potentially a backup option. Not sure he is worth starting at 179k over Petracca/Kerridge.
Similar on Kyle Langford in SC at 188k, getting up there price wise though. Too expensive in RDT at 208.

At this stage wouldn't be planning for more than 1 rookie starter up forward.

    Re: Forward Rookies

    Great post @PVC

One I am really interested in is Nick Kommer at 128k? I thought I read somewhere he was back into it all and with all of the Essendon stuff, if he is fit he is surely a monty to get a game.

It's also important to remember Adams (WB) can be selected as a FWD as can Mitch Brown (ESS) if the back rookies look plentiful.

Petracca should be picked, even if not playing rd 1, surely he will get games early on.

I really like Keough also....the suns were terrible with their KPD stocks last year and the boy can play, as PVC said, not a great scorer, but should hopefully get games.

Jarrod Pickett (Ahern down, high draft pick, gun junior), Tim O'Brien (Roughy replacement), Sam Grimley (Most goals in the VFL last year, with the lack of dons KP's could get early games)?
I would hope one of these would take the chances that are opening up at their clubs.

    Clem Smith should get games..

I Like Kerridge better than Milera at the same price..

The next bracket up also interests me in a premium rookie price: B.Kennedy, Kyle Langford, Dean Kent (great reports) and one that is in my side at the moment, Reece Conca....(although daisy has been in there also eeeek!)

At this stage I am thinking my forward set up will be:

Martin, Barlow, Franklin (one premium priced rookie- Kerridge, Conca, Thomas), Wells, Rookie (2 x rookie bench)

    Re: Forward Rookies

Another one is Corey Ellis from Richmond, only played a couple of games last year before getting injured.
    Priced under 200k and mid/fwd.

@Crows88 thats how I have my forward line as well.

    Re: Forward Rookies

Petracca is a sure thing if picked round 1, if he plays NAB Cup and isn't picked for round 1 I reckon he is still a solid pick. If he doesn't play NAB Cup I think he becomes a downgrade target straight away because will need a few weeks in reserves you'd think.

You'd think if Petracca is fit to play NAB, that he'd get a game rd 1?

Yeah starting to think Grimley might become a good fwd bench spot if he's looking like best 22 material.

What's Papley's scoring potential like? Really don't know a lot about him.

    Thoughts on Corey Ellis?

Actually considering him for my forward bench (or starting him ahead of Menadue). Named in the guts and Hardwick seems to love him.
Zach Tuohy my boy for 2017!
