I see Nick Smith has been ruled out as well, he is almost a bigger out than Buddy for mine.

Freo by 6 goals now if rain doesn't screw things up, can see Swans giving up if it gets out too far and focusing on week 2 which often happens in QFs

Fyfe didn't train today per the media over here. Nothing has really changed but given it was a really light session that's certainly alarming.

Apparently has to pass a grueling fitness test tomorrow if he is to suit up. I don't think it changes much from a tipping perspective but it would be a big blow for Freo and it's a genuine concern regardless.

Main sessions have been Game day minus 2 and 4 days all year. If he doesn't train tomorrow I'll be concerned but not training today is a nothing.

round 8, 2011 last time Swans went into a game without at least two of Jack, Parker, Smith and Franklin playing. at least one of Jack and Parker has played every game since Parker debuted in round 8, 2011.

Yeah just thought I'd mention it, if I was Freo and there was any doubt he wouldn't be playing, especially if WC win on Friday.

Tomorrow is the big fitness test so will probably know on Friday if he is playing or not because it will be based on how he recovers. I still expect he plays.

He must be struggling a bit though given he's had 2 weeks off you would have hoped he'd be making all the training sessions at the moment. What was the latest problem we were given? Lower leg injury for memory?

Fyfe trained Monday and Tuesday was in the gym. Apparently Pav said he would play on 7 in Perth.

He's obviously on a modified schedule but all signs are pointing to him playing.

Cheney and Mackay in for Lever and Lyons. Wow! I kind of thought with WBD's mobile forward line, that Lever would be one of the better suited backmen we have.
This post was more than likely SC based.
If in doubt, assume it was.

Season might be taking it's toll on Lever. Had his worst game for the year last week, week off before that and he wasn't great in the game before that either so maybe they're unsure if he's got it in the tank at the moment? Would love for him to get some finals experience though, think he'd feed off that sort of pressure.

In fairness Cheney is actually a pretty good matchup for all of Dickson, Crameri and Stringer physically, they're actually all guys who don't have the pure size to break him and he can at least be annoying to them on the lead. I actually think it's a very solid selection move because Lever didn't have a great matchup.

Having said that, I agree fully with what you've said as well, he looked very flat last week.

Don't think there were too many surprises with the teams. Someone had to come in for the Eagles and Selwood has played finals and has the body for it. Hawks no surprises whatsoever but that's to be expected when you've had an almost perfect season injury wise.

Little surprised the Swans didn't go with Bird but not shocked by any means, probably didn't want to guys who haven't played in a while. Dockers taking Taberner a bit of a surprise to me, he was pretty awful last week imo (and in general really) but also because they also have Clarke, makes them very tall given the expected conditions. Wouldn't surprise me at all if they dropped him for either Zunga or Clancee. I'd actually like to see Towers go out but we haven't even got Bird there as a chance emergency (he is a slop specialist) and I'm not sure about Rose or Hiscox as the options either. Subi should be a bit of a mess by Saturday, going to pour over the next couple of days (has all day as well) and will have the Hawks and Eagles tearing it up the night before which rarely happens but generally when there has been two events on a weekend it can get very sloppy for the 2nd. If both sides go in as named I'd say Taberner is probably about a 1.5 goal swing to Sydney, still don't think we're close but it would be a genuinely head scratching decision given that Taberner's biggest weakness is when the ball is on the floor as well, Clarke is also particularly poor though I guess with Walters and Ballantyne being so good they just want a target or two.

Dogs I think made some great moves, brought in the obvious guys but I love the Minson decision as well, really helps to combat the Crows biggest strength. No surprises in the final game either.

Yeah I've been wanting Cheney to come in for some time, like what he's done for us so far, especially if we can get him out of playing as our KP defender.

What I find interesting/strange is how we've been unwilling to play him since basically mid-season when he got injured/dropped. We then went to Shaw, whether that was to see what he had to offer or we thought he was ahead of Cheney at the time I'm unsure. Think he'll be a handy match up for Stringer potentially.

    Re: AFL Finals 2015

Personally, I think Adelaide will go with Talia on Stringer, Hartigan on Redpath and Cheney on Cramieri/Dickson. Stringer is really the form forward for the doggies at the moment with 34 goals since the bye and Talia is the best defender. What will be interesting is whether or not we try and drag Talia away from the action and isolate Hartigan/Cheney deep. At the other end, Roberts to Jenkins, Hamling to Lynch and Morris to Walker are probably what I'd expect, although Morris might be better used on Betts. Whichever matchup we go for, we need to try and free up Wood to chop off the attacks and start our counter attacks.

With Minson, I think it's a case of being both the best suited and the only real option. Roughead is out, Campbell missed last week and was struggling to run against WCE, Boyd missed last week too and Cordy is Cordy. My main worry with Minson is that he'll try too hard and end up giving away 5+ free kicks.

Lever's touch and courageous, reads the play well but he's not very good one on one or as a close checking defender at the moment.

this is a pure match up for stringer selection. Cheney will play on Stringer. Who can't do worse that Hartigan
    TEX WALKER. that is all.

I think Stringer is too mobile, too explosive for Talia to keep up with.

It's a good point but I feel like Talia is wasted on Redpath. Maybe the idea will be for Talia to take the deepest forward (out of the 3 of them) and Cheney plays on whichever forward is further upfield.
