Thought these days if you made physical contact with the opposition which resulted in a concussion, regardless of whether it's fair/accidental/unintentional or not, you got suspended pretty much. So with that I'm surprised to see Schulz got off, I'm sure we'll see another similar incident further down the track where someone gets 2 weeks for it.

If you show care/compassion and a bit of regret immediately as Shulz did when he realised he was unconscious they take that into consideration when deciding the sentence too im sure.

Yeah not sure it was mentioned but people said none of the Sydney players went in to 'fly the flag' kind of thing after Schulz knocked out Richards from the tackle. I can't help but think everyone was still focused on the ball at that point as it just went over the line and Schulz was the very first person to notice Richards was out cold and he then flagged such (good on him for doing so) which is why no one went to remonstrate. I'm sure had he done that tackle, team mates noticed Richards wasn't moving then they would have got stuck into him.

Think these kind of things are going to happen in the game which is why I've never wanted players to get suspended from it but there have been plenty of similar incidents where players have been punished. Feel like the review panel is just as shit/dodgy as the old system of handing out points.

Baguley challenging, so fully expecting him to get 2 weeks for a high hit to the arm.

Should have just been tough like inspirational leader Trent Cotchin and punched a guy in the stomach every week.

Baguley cleared of high contact despite Lonie essentially lying his way through the entire process to hide the fact that he took a dive. $1500 fine for body contact.

Pls tell me Vickery doesn't get suspended for Jamison's lack of awareness.

Re: Match Review Panel (MRP) 2015

    B. ROUGH CONDUCTIn 2015, a head clash may be considered a reasonably foreseeable outcomethat might arise from a Player’s decision to bump an opponent. Accordingly,Players may be liable for a sanction if they elect to bump and that bumpresults in a head clash. Regard will be had to the circumstances of the headclash in determining the level of any impact.
So basically, if they consider it a bump from Vickery and not Vickery reacting to Jamison about to run into him, then he's in trouble.

    Here's the replay. http://www.afl.com.au/video/2015-07-...-vickery-clash

From the angles provided, it's pretty clear Vickery intends to bump Jamison and moves in such a way as to do so. The original angle makes it appear more Jamison's fault.

Given this, I would expect it to be classified as Careless (he didn't jump and the head clash is accidental in nature), High Impact. Normally, that would be 3 weeks down to 2, but Vickery has a bad record, having been suspended last year for his incident with Cox. As such, he'll be given 4 weeks down to 3.

Just saw this one... the fact that it is a discussion of Vickery and not Jamison is exactly what is wrong with this game.

The AFL has taken away duty of care towards one's self and made this a game where being reckless towards one's own well being is not just condoned but actively encouraged and placing all responsibility on everyone else to not play football around you in case you hurt yourself.

It's pathetic to watch and I guess just an indictment on society as a whole, gone are the days where the saying "take responsibility for your actions" is a saying and we are now fully into the "blame someone else if you are an idiot" age.

Yeah Vickery totally deserves to miss weeks because Jamison thinks it's acceptable to run around the field with an awareness similar my 5 year old walking through the toy aisle in Target.

@Wogitalia - I reckon the tackle on Browne by Howe today is the perfect example of the sort of tackle you were talking about with Gibbs. It's one smooth, aggressive, powerful motion, and Browne was very unlucky that he landed the way he did. I think there's a very big distinction between that and the "bear hug then sling" tackle that Gibbs delivered.
