I can't believe something like that can be overturned.

How weak have they been this year? Everything that has been challenged has been downgraded, I just don't see how you can mount any fight for that one when it was an off the ball elbow to the head.

It appears you need to break someone's jaw for any chance of missing multiple weeks. It is the stupidity of having impact based on a medical report. Impact should be based on potential of action. Elbowing someone in the head deserves weeks.

EDIT: At least he'll be back for my Legacy a week earlier (to continue scoring 70s).

Ablett gets off again. Apparently leaving your feet after the ball is disposed of, and elbowing someone in the face, 2 weeks in a row isn't deemed to be worth a suspension.

The first one was deemed worthy by MRO. The tribunal disagreed. At that point, there's no point MRO putting him up for the same thing again (just to get overturned).

IMO, the system needs fixing AGAIN.

    Re: Match Review Panel (MRP)

MRP has been an utter farce for close to a decade.

Ever since they went to outcomes instead of intent it has been ridiculous. Ablett has been lucky that his flying elbows have done no damage, so he get's off, some other sucker like Durdin makes a perfectly legitimate AFL play, get's an accidental head clash and gets a week.

It's just a farcical system that relies on pure luck of the outcomes. The superstar factor is even more ridiculous on top.

I say this as someone who's actually very happy with the outcomes though as I think the whole idea of suspension is genuinely stupid and should actually be saved for incredibly rare scenarios (think Gaff, Hall, etc) where a player goes miles beyond the scope of the game, otherwise financial sanctions (at real levels, not the same fines they were issuing in 1990) is the way to go. Fans are the main ones punished when players miss games, financial punishments hit the players hard and prove the point, just make it a % of their salary instead of a fixed amount and watch the problems drop quickly.

I reckon all the players taking it to the tribunal and getting their charges downgraded or thrown out has taken its toll on Christian and is now affecting the way he views these incidents.

No mention of Rocky / tripping charge. Wasn't he reported during the game or did FF have that wrong?

    Found it...

The match day report laid against Port Adelaide’s Tom Rockliff for contact on Gold Coast SUNS’ Anthony Miles from the second quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed. Miles takes possession of the football and looks to evade Rockliff. Rockliff moves his left foot to intercept the player. Miles is consequently tripped. It was the view of the MRO there was insufficient force to constitute a reportable offence. No further was taken.

Stratton gets 2 weeks from the tribunal. One week for stomping and one week for pinching. He pleaded guilty to both charges.

J.McGovern, Walters, Amon and D.Howard have all been offered a week by the MRO. McGovern has already said he's going to the tribunal, the others have until tomorrow morning to decide.
