    Yep, allowing blocking the 3rd man seemed the logical option. Having said that, I like that they have acknowledged it was an issue, but as is typical probably came up with the wrong solution.

    Maybe they thought that players would take advantage of being able to block other players?

    It is probably also the best option that ensures ruckmen remain part of the game.

    Couple of things umpiring.

    1. Seems the deliberate rule changed last week, much more similar to how it was last year. Be interesting to see which way it goes in the coming weeks.

    2. Eleni Glouftsis will become the first ever female field umpire this weekend in an AFL game, having been called up to officiate the Ess v WCE match.
