Yeah, either every kick in will be a stat or none of them will.

I'm sure we'll get more stats on this but depending which way they go 2 players that could be affected the most.

60% of Rory Laird's kick-ins since 2016 (H&A only) have been to himself - the highest % of the top-100 kick-in players in the AFL

Only 3 of Luke Ryan's 140 kick-ins have been to himself (2%). Not ideal for fantasy.

Either Laird is going to lose a lot of points or Ryan gain a lot.
That's potentially an extra 411pts for Ryan, would take him from 77 DT avg to 97!

Backline will be loaded with guys that kick in.

Yeah kick ins would become DT relevant for sure, ton of very underpriced guys (even Laird fwiw). SC I don't think it will make a significant difference. You can basically find guys who take kick ins by their ratios half the time because it counts obviously (like Ryan for example).

Just putting this out there now. Hope I'm wrong but I suspect the AFL has been angling to give the Good Friday game to Essendon since its inception and will use the timing of Good Friday next year as an excuse to schedule them for the game and then leave them in there after that.

As predicted, Ess play Good Friday and now AFL saying

A great article on the kick ins and a summation that short kicks are more likely. Still time for tinkering!

On Thurs night Carlton almost exclusively kicked short and to the left. Tigers were more mixed and played on more

Is there a reason why there is no 1.45pm or 2.10pm game this Saturday? Was this being kept as a place holder for the AFLW GF but can't be used now that the GF is at AO and Port game was already scheduled for 4.40pm ACDT?

Sounds like a logical explanation. Thanks for pointing it out, will make sure I have something to do until 4:30PM Saturday now

Alan Richardson sacked by StKilda, Ratten to take over. Just in time to play the Dogs this weekend.

    Re: Random AFL Thoughts/Statements

No sign of the Rd 23 Fixture? From all reports it was supposed to be released Monday.

Seems like Ess v Coll will likely be locked in for the Friday night. The other big game is Rich v Bris at the G. Rich play Sunday the week before so that pretty much counts out Fri night for them. Fox are suggesting the AFL will look to play that as the second or last game on the Sunday to keep the suspense going for the whole round. The other possible "suspense" option is WB v Adel in Ballarat. Those teams could be fighting for 8th spot. The rest of the match ups are pretty meh. WC v Haw is also suggested as one of the Sat night games.

Personally, I'd play Rich v Bris on Sat 2.10pm or Sat night and save WC v Haw and WB v Adel for the Sunday. Works better for my loopholes

It's weird that we have this floating rd 23 fixture and the week off before the finals.

Exactly. There's actually no need for a floating fixture since the week off was introduced.

But we know how much the AFL like to engineer outcomes.
