    - I recognise that not all 4 of Talia, E-Mac, Hooker & Taylor will make it but I can't pick who to leave out.
    - Hanley on HBF is more me expecting that to be what AA Selectors will do.
    - Gray would be my starting onballer but he'll be shoehorned into the HFF spot.
    - Ward has been superb.
    - Swap out Heppell or mystery KPD4 for Ablett/Priddis and I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Swap Hanley for B.Smith I guess. I don't like it but if you're not in the squad you can't make the team.

Good signs that not many north players in squad. Shows how even team is. Gold, swallow, wells and SDT all could've it but not this year

Alex Rance is surely the biggest joke of the lot. 6 weeks of good footy, a yellow sash and a media bandwagon is all it takes.

Twarby's post above shows that he doesn't get many goals kicked on him so that alone makes him a candidate for the KPD roles.

He's also only played 17 games. His numbers are deceptive. 22 for Talia, McKenzie and Hooker, 21 for the Geelong pair.

he conceded 1.36 goals per game playing on the number 1 forward every week that more than stacks up with the rest of those.

being apart of the #1 defense in the 2nd half of the year would have helped aswell

How does Ted Richards stack up on that front?

The second half of the year contained the following ranked attacks:

    7 (L, 105 points conceded)
    4 (L, wet weather)
    17 (W)
    16 (W)
    2 (W, 106 points conceded)
    5 (W, wet weather)
    14 (W)
    12 (W)
    3 (W)
    17 (W)
    4 (W, wet weather)

Let's not get too caught up in the Richmond hype, as incredible an effort as it is to make the finals, they were 3-10 for a reason. The first half of the season counts just as much as the second half.

In fairness... Rance, Maric and Deledio being out is a pretty big part of that and realistically the fact they were so bad when he didn't play and so much better when he did probably is about 90% of his case for being in the squad.

That's not really how it works though. I can understand the argument for 15 Ablett games being better than 22 Sloane games (although I disagree...), but was 17 Rance games better than 22 Patful or Richards games? I'd have the latter two ahead on a pro rata basis, let alone across the entire season.

@twarby do you have some stats on Ellis - comparing him to Jones & Sloane for example?

I know Ellis had a strong finish to the year but Jones & Sloane were solid/consistent for most of the season.

Haha, I'm not in the Rance camp at all, just saying how the moron voters could see it that way though.

In answer to your question, no. I wouldn't trade Rance for Richards this year as I think Richards was better and played more. To be honest though, I'm just happy that Nick Smith and Luke Parker got into the squad as they fully deserved it and are both guys that most casual fans couldn't pick out of a line up.

Yellow sash effect Bunga. Six good weeks at Richmond > 22 good weeks elsewhere
