    Re: 2013 AFL Draft thread

Now the first interest news is that both GWS and Melbourne are prepared to shop around the #1 and #2 picks respectively for the right players. Personally I can't see any way that a club is going to offer enough to convince them to give up their pick but who knows what might happen.

It's likely that compensation picks for Hawthorn (Buddy FA) and Collingwood (Thomas FA) will alter the first round as listed above and other free agents might influence the first or later rounds.

Buddy FA would be pick 18 as the AFL said they'd give Hawthorn a pick after their pick.

Thomas is an interesting one as he will probably be deemed as a pick after Collingwood's first, so pick 11 which would push Hawthorn's down to pick 19.

    Re: 2013 AFL Draft thread

General consensus amongst recruiting people is that this is a fairly shallow draft, particularly for KPP/Ruck. Clubs are going to do a lot of reaching for players they like once we get past the first round and many clubs are expected to want to get all their picks out of the way early.

Could mean that there are a lot of rookie elevations and perhaps a good number of recycled/mature aged picks taken this year.

The only thing that doesn't appear to be in doubt is that Tom Boyd is going to be the Number 1 pick.

    Tom Boyd https://twitter.com/Tom_Boyd17

    Height: 199cm,
    Weight: 102kg,
    DOB: 22/08/1995

    Position: KPF

    <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 20px;">

    2012 Season as underage player:
    4 games in National Championships
15 games in TAC Cup, kicking 44 goals, averaged 9.7disp and over 5 marks a game with more contested than uncontested

    2013 Season
TAC Cup: 5 games, 23 goals, averaged 15.8 disp and 7.5 marks with over 3/game contested.
Under 18 Champs: 2 games (well 1 game and half a qtr before injury), kicked 9 goals in that time and had 11 marks.

As you might expect, he was badly injured in the 2nd Under 18 champs game and missed around 3 months. Came back for the final of the TAC Cup and kicked 4 goals.

Whilst he has a size advantage on most of his peers (although less so during 2012), his main attributes are his intensity, his ability to mark the ball at it's highest point and his goal kicking.

Very much a midfielders draft, after the top 30 picks the quality starts to thin out according to the recruiting guys.
SC is FFC's number 1 fantasy game

    Collingwood would be laughing.

Pick 11 for a guy who's one bad injury away from being a write-off. Add to that the extra cap room they'll free up.
Never argue with a fool. They'll drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Given all this money going to Buddy, can't help but think the best offer you could make right now is a 10 year contract to Stephen Wells.

    AFL Draft Combine started today

James Aish and Jack Billings won't be performing any of the physical tests at the combine.

Aish because he's preparing for SANFL Grand Final this weekend and Billings had minor knee surgery 4 weeks ago

Today was the main measurement day. Height, weight and skinfold testing, Psychomotor test, eye test, medical test and then standing and vertical leap tests as well as the first round of interviews.

That's disappointing, mainly since he's one of the ones around the pick 4 mark.

Having so many huddled around like that can't be comfortable for the players.

That is horrendous. So does each club's doctor get a chance to have a fiddle??
