Clay Smith, 180cm, 78 kg, DOB: 11/05/93
Recruited from: Gippsland Power (TAC)
Position: Mid.
Fantasy Footy Club Player Profile 2012:
Smith comes to the dogs with a mature body and although his kicking will need to be worked on he should be ready to push for selection early in the season. Has a ferocious attack on the ball and is the kind of player that would impress at training with his work ethic and dedication. Fantasy wise he is more of a DT prospect and we will have a better idea of his scoring potential for 2012 after his pre-season games. Signs on the track are promising however and we know what Tom Liberatore was able to do last year in his first season. Although only listed as 78kg he already has a strong body that should be able to physically compete at AFL level.
FFC Verdict:
Early indications point to Smith potentially being used at half-forward with stints through the middle. He is a looking very good chance for games early in the season and so should be watched carefully in the NAB cup. His tackle numbers and ability to kick goals means that even with a potential forward position he may well have good scoring capabilities. Whether these scores will be enough to rival some of the mature age rookie mids or not is yet to be seen
FFC Risk Factor:6/10
