    Clay Smith

    Clay Smith, 180cm, 78 kg, DOB: 11/05/93
    Recruited from: Gippsland Power (TAC)
    Position: Mid.

Fantasy Footy Club Player Profile 2012:
Smith comes to the dogs with a mature body and although his kicking will need to be worked on he should be ready to push for selection early in the season. Has a ferocious attack on the ball and is the kind of player that would impress at training with his work ethic and dedication. Fantasy wise he is more of a DT prospect and we will have a better idea of his scoring potential for 2012 after his pre-season games. Signs on the track are promising however and we know what Tom Liberatore was able to do last year in his first season. Although only listed as 78kg he already has a strong body that should be able to physically compete at AFL level.

    FFC Verdict:
Early indications point to Smith potentially being used at half-forward with stints through the middle. He is a looking very good chance for games early in the season and so should be watched carefully in the NAB cup. His tackle numbers and ability to kick goals means that even with a potential forward position he may well have good scoring capabilities. Whether these scores will be enough to rival some of the mature age rookie mids or not is yet to be seen

    The kid they call 'cement'

    102 SC / 79 DT / 49% TOG

"I would have preferred he didn't go into a full body cramp and we could have left him out there.

"But that's probably reflective of how hard he worked."
Also subbed in 3 QTR from cramps in NAB Game 4, after scoring 77 DT.

An amazing game by Clay today, I hope he gets the Rising Star. Can't expect 4 goals a game though so may need to find a tad more leather if he is to average solidly. Gun kid though, Dogs have found a beauty.

    @porky @divvydan

Interestingly a few people on the BF board think he will get a rest this week to get a full game into his legs in the VFL.

I would think that he would be ready for a full AFL match after being subbed last week. With Griffen back now, where does he sit in your 22 and what are his sub prospects in the coming weeks do you think?

I am looking to get him in for Coniglio, pocket myself 65k or so and hopefully he will score better than coniglio and will make up the cash difference in no time. Thoughts?

If you don't have Greene I would look to him before Clay. If you are in need of the extra dosh though, I think Clay is in the b22 but may take a few subbed matches to condition his body for a full game. Reminiscent of Gaff tbh

Played for Williamstown this weekend. From the reports gathered around he was ok without being great. Unlikely to get a call up this week.

    Re: Clay Smith

hmmm, really unsure what to do with him, could offload this week to pfeiffer for minimal gain or leave him and hope he gets a few more games so i can trade out before rd11...

don't know how many more half decent downgrade options will come so don't want to downgrade for no $$ benefit if no options are around when i really need to offload rooks.

In saying that though, with the way things have been ill need all my bench options playing each week lol.

Suspected ACL late in today's game. Hopefully not the case but appears very likely.

Has announced his retirement, effective immediately. Was somewhat expected after the article he recently wrote for PlayersVoice https://www.playersvoice.com.au/clay...sarahs-surname

Edit: Start of text might take a while to load.

Great effort by him to win a flag (unfortunately ) and get back from 3, I've done 2 and it's a real slog to get back each time and then even harder to trust it.

Shame he never really got to get going, loved the way he attacked the ball and man.
