Mitch Clark turns down a 5 year... 700k per season deal at GWS.
Wow. Unbelievable that he would turn an offer like that. Hopefully means he's holding out to come home to WA, in which case Freo are in the best position!

Big offer to refuse but good on him for doing so. Has had indicated he wants to leave Brisbane though? Hopefully he stays at Brisbane but if he does decide he wants to try to leave then Freomantle would have a good team next season if they can get the right deal. But as I said has he mentioned he wants to leave?

As far as I've heard, he has wanted to leave from last year when he was still contracted. I'll be most surprised if he re-signs with the Lions.

This, can't see him staying on given the constant talk he wants out.

    Re: Trade Talk

If that's true GWS might as well forget about him, obviously doesn't want to be playing their, offering more money would be stupid. It will just be a bidding war now, won't conclude to the last day of draft week . I honestly wouldn't mind if Freo passed on Clark, let the other clubs fight it out for him. He really hasn't produced much in his career to this point, the last thing we want is another inconsistent performer. But then again there is huge upside to his game, I think about 500k a year is the right price, wouldn't be giving him any longer than a 3 year deal.

I'm quite the opposite, I think Freo need to go hard to get Clark. We're in desperate need of a big forward. It doesnt look like Jack Anthony is going to fill that void, Mayne didnt have the improvement we were expecting, and Bradley is no permanent option.

Clark is more effective up the ground, has never played prolonged periods deep.

    Re: Trade Talk

Would be very dangerous if M.Clark could hit his straps. Having those big targets in the forward line is going to help players like Mayne and Balla as well who have struggled severely at times this season. The one thing I like about Mitch is his set shot goal kicking, have seen him slot a few boundary line drop punts at the Gabba this season. Fremantle's kicking at goal has been below woeful this year (think we are ranked second or third last in that stat in the comp).

    Re: Trade Talk

If Freo do go for Clark they have to go hard is 500k per year to much to pay for him? Carlton could even look at him if they can afford him IMO, I really think they need another key forward to help them win a flag. Freo were very close last year but this year they have had alot of injurys and maybe having PAV back in the forward line is the way to go and if they get Clark that will make their team look very strong overall.

After this year I thought most teams would be wanting to put Clark into the ruck position where he was his most dangerous.

Fev about 1/5th of the price and at least twice as good!

27.13 in 17 games this season in a pretty awful side isn't the worst return, also take into account he injured that knee twice this season. Agreed though his best season was in 2009 when he played as pretty much a full time ruckman. In my opinion he would be a perfect fit at Richmond, have him and Vickery rotating between FF and ruck at 50/50. Vickery has impressed me a few times this season, has the potential to be a lethal ruck combo. Richmond should definitely be scouting a ruckman in trade week, Graham and Browne just don't cut it.

    Re: Trade Talk

Maybe he is better then I think, but personally I just don't think he is that deadly as a key forward and don't rate him as a key forward. Those goals figures seem alright but looking at his stats, he has only kicked more then 2 goals twice this season, 3 and 4 in round 5 and 17. For a key full forward, that is pretty underwhelming, especially when you compare it to what he was doing 09 as the solo ruck.
